Holiday on the Arlberg in bad weather

A holiday in bad weather - the worst thing that can happen? Or the chance to get to know the Arlberg region from a different perspective...

Sure - perfect sunshine and mild temperatures in summer holidays, or powder-light fresh snow in winter - that's the ideal image of a holiday in Sankt Anton am Arlberg. But since we are in the middle of the Alps, at over 1300 m above sea level, it has to be honestly said that we are exposed to the weather and its whims. But isn't that precisely what makes an active holiday so appealing?

Of course, we know the saying: "There is no bad weather, only bad equipment" - and indeed, with the latest activewear, GoreTex and merino wool, an excursion in the mountains (admittedly - optimally not on sloping paths) or in the forest can be enjoyed even in rain, snowfall and wind. But we also know that sometimes an indoor programme is needed. That's why we've collected some tips at Omaela.

For sports enthusiasts - the all-rounder ArlRock: Here you can not only climb and boulder, play tennis and squash or bowl - especially the trampoline hall is a hit! Everything under one roof.

For the culturally interested: our ski and local history museum in the Villa Trier, which was built more than 100 years ago. A place where you can trace the history of St Anton am Arlberg, but also a place to meet and enjoy culinary delights in the associated restaurant.

In the Gand exhibition mine, history comes alive and long-hidden secrets are revealed. Here, visitors can follow in the footsteps of the ore and experience the mountain from a different perspective.

For the clever and the inventive: Escape room in the Murrmel - great fun, especially if you are enjoying your holiday in a group or with the family.

For water rats: swimming pool at the Arlberg Wellcom. The combination of indoor and outdoor pools ensures bathing pleasure regardless of the weather. There's also a wellness area with Kelo sauna, Finnish sauna, sanarium, brine steam bath and infrared sauna. There is also a fitness studio and you can pamper yourself with massages or cosmetic appointments.

Of course, there's nothing wrong with an extensive shopping tour in St. Anton am Arlberg to make the most of a rainy day. The range on offer is - in keeping with the region - rather sporty. But there are also some special boutiques and souvenir shops in the village. A special tip: the Tirol shop at SkiWest. OmaEla is a fan of sustainable fashion made in Tyrol. You can also find special souvenirs here.

But the holiday can also be really savoured together in the flat. Especially for our young guests (but not only!) is our fine collection of games. Ever played Tyrolean roulette?

For connoisseurs, there's nothing better than lounging on the sofa in "bad weather" and browsing through good books. Our cosy flats are particularly well suited for this - and afterwards it's off to the private spa ... infusions included.
