More sustainability: our new Photovoltaic system

Since summer 2024, our own photovoltaic system on one half of the roof has been providing the cleanest electricity in the house - so we want to be energy self-sufficient, at least in summer.

24 large panels have been providing electricity at Omaela since July 2024. We can follow the electricity production live at any time and are happy about every ray of sunshine that provides us with clean energy.

In conjunction with other energy optimisation measures, our house should be able to get by solely on self-produced electricity, at least in summer. Geothermal energy, which we use for heating and hot water, is an ideal sparring partner for the photovoltaic system in order to work as sustainably and environmentally friendly as possible.

Whether we install additional storage systems in the future depends on the one hand on the development of electricity prices, of course, but on the other hand also on how possible storage systems perform in terms of performance, longevity and (at some point) disposal.

On great summer days, we currently manage to produce well over 60 kWh.
