Verwall in Winter

Located above St. Anton am Arlberg towards the Arlberg Pass, the Verwall shows itself in its winter guise — with snow-covered trees and snow crunching underfoot, almost kitschily beautiful.

Conveniently, you'll find a car park (with a parking meter!) right at the entrance to the Verwall in the Moos district. Or, comfortably and sustainably, take bus line 3 to reach the starting point.

The stroller-friendly route first passes the heliport, then the paths split for pedestrians and cross-country skiing enthusiasts. The varied loipe runs 10 km with gentle climbs and descents around the Verwall reservoir; on foot you can go as far as the Wagnerhütte rest stop. 

A special highlight along the way and our favourite little spot: the feeding station for roe deer, roebucks, stags and hinds. From a little distance, the animals can be observed freely in a protected setting.

Once you reach the Wagnerhütte, a little stop-in is a must: well fortified with cocoa, Kaiserschmarren or a hot tea, you can set off on the way back. Anyone already tired can take the Verwall bus for the return trip (until 5 p.m.). This makes the Verwall the perfect excursion when your skis need a break:
